Shree Krushna Singh

Krushna Singh is an esteemed figure known for his profound impact on society. A key advocate in Odisha’s Bhoodan Movement, he championed land distribution, empowering countless landless families. His influence extends to education, where he established schools and colleges, offering marginalized communities access to quality education. As a prolific author, his books and magazines have inspired change and raised awareness. Krushna’s contributions are not limited to literature; he founded charitable trusts and libraries, ensuring a lasting legacy of community development.

1948

Early Life

Shri Krushna Singh was born in Odisha, India on 18th January, 1948.
He received his formal education up to Class IX.
He left School to take part in the Sarvodaya movement under the Chairperson of Vinoba Bhave.This marked the commencement of his lifelong commitment to social change.

1957

Navjeevan Mandal

Krushna Singh aligned himself with prominent figures like Smt. Rama Devi, Naba Krushna Choudhary, and Smt. Malati Choudhury under the Navjeevan Mandal banner.

1968

Orissa Sarvodaya Mandal

His leadership prowess became evident when he took the reins as the Secretary of Orissa Sarvodaya Mandal in 1968. A year later, he led a transformative movement in R. Udayagiri, targeting the egregious bonded labour system and advocating for land distribution to the underprivileged in the districts of Ganjam ,Koraput and rest of Odisha. With a foundational training in Gandhian Philosophy at Wardha and Sevagram, Singh’s influence only expanded. By 1971, he was elected to the All India Santi Sena and subsequently became the Vice President of Odisha Sarvodaya Mandal.

1985

Establishment of Semiliguda College

Krushna Singh founded primary and secondary schools in Semiliguda and the surrounding areas, where he emphasized free education for tribal and underprivileged children. This marked the beginning of his educational revolution In 1985, Singh founded Semiliguda College, offering quality undergraduate and graduate education to local youth.

2001

SCITM

Singh’s vision led to the establishment of the Samanta Chandra Sekhar Institute of Technology and Management, the first of its kind in Koraput. He also introduced diploma courses to enhance employment opportunities for tribal youth.
